Domestic appliances have always been considered as an important purchase for a house or a flat, but all put together this can turn into a very expensive purchase. We all spend a lot of money every few years on these and we should jump on every opportunity to save some money somewhere, especially with appliances. You probably would have never expected to be able to save money in your kitchen appliances.

It is important, first of all to think of what you are buying the domestic appliances for. If it is for your house and that you want to keep it for years and years, then you will need to consider looking at top end products that may cost more at first but that you will keep for a very long time. It will be completely different if you own a flat and rent it or if you want to get domestic appliances on your son or daughter’s first flat.

You also need before buying anything to have a look around. There are plenty of shops where you can buy domestic appliances and it is important to look at different shops and what are the prices in these.
There is one place you have probably never really thought of. How about second hand shops, whether they are brick and mortar shops or online shops.

You can find great bargains on second hand shops that would cost probably twice less than for brand new appliances.
If it is to equip a flat you want to rent or your son or daughter’s first flat, then you do not need to buy a top end brand. Appliances that were sold a few years ago are still usually in great shape and will cost considerably less if you buy them used. You obviously need to check the frigde, cooker or whatever you want to buy before taking it. You would not want to have something already broken.
If you want to buy a higher range product, you can still look at second hand products but do not take too old appliances. Machines with a few years of use are ok to buy but not appliances that have 10 or 15 years of use.

Another interesting tip to save some money is to buy appliances spare parts when one of your domestic appliances breaks down. There are plenty of shops and online shops offering spare parts and tips on how to replace them.
