I deeply believe that it is important to know ourselves well before we set any goals and be engaged in any plans or activities. Being aware of your own personality (and accept it of course) is essential because you will be able to know what satisfies you. It is hard to be engage with a certain activity that you don’t really like but you are just forced to do it. It may end up to unpleasant results. Since we will be talking about weight loss here, our goal for now is to know our weight loss personality. Knowing your weight loss personality will make your weight loss goals easier to fulfill.

I did some research about this, collaborated facts and opinions of known psychologists and experts; and end up with these weight loss personalities:

The Overeater/Overexerciser

Food intake: You are used to eating large amount of food that’s why you find it difficult to manage your diet. Though you have plans of dieting, you often fail especially when you’re with people with big appetites.

Exercise behavior: You engage in physical activities to compensate for your eating. (You seldom did exercise).

Weight-loss pattern: You find it hard to achieve significant results at the start, but there will be improvements like increase in lean mass or endurance.

Obstacles: Since you have an extreme personality, you’ll quit since nothing is happening despite your efforts.

The Event-dependent Exerciser/Dieter

Food intake: You are always influenced by the need to look great so you don’t eat right.

Exercise behavior: You believe in the importance of exercise that’s why you choose exercises that give faster results.

Weight-loss pattern: You can lose weight easily because you’re driven by events you’ll attend.

The Forever Dieter

Food intake: You follow the latest diet craze that you switch from one diet to another.

Exercise behavior: Exercise is something you don’t love to do.

Weight-loss pattern: You lose and gain because fad diets deprive you of real food.

Obstacles: Taking out nutrients like carbohydrates will make you resort to sweets at night because your body lacks sugar. You have unpredictable moods and you find it a challenge to be consistent in exercise and eating programs.

The Weight-loss Achiever

You’re succeeding in achieving your desired weight loss.
