Airline travel has increased over the years and so has safety precautions.  But it really doesn’t matter how many precautions you take to make the journey safe, no one can ensure a 100% safe journey and accidents may take place at any time. Most of the time you have a safe flight but there may be one in a million flights that ends in disaster.  Cross your fingers that this never happens to you but in case it does, here are 5 survival tips.

First and foremost, always listen to the hostess when she teaches you how to use the oxygen mask and life jacket.  The lecture may be boring especially for regular flyers but it might be a life saver.  Make sure your children also pay attention and teach them what to do in an emergency.

Next make a note of where the emergency exit is.  In case of smoke and low visibility, you should be able to make it to the exit without further mishap or delay. In case of disaster, keep cool. Do not panic.  A calm head may save the day for you.

Brace yourself for the impact.  The recommended position is to cross your hands as in an embrace and placing them against the seat ahead of you.  Then put your head down on your hands.   If there is no seat before you, just bend down and wrap your hands behind your knees. The clothes you wear may save you from injury.  Covering yourself from top to toe during an airline travel may save you from scratches from flying shards.

Keep the above five points in mind and may you always have an uneventful airline travel.
