Scientists from the National Cancer Institute (USA) received persuasive evidence that the love of red meat correlates with increased risk of premature death. As the results of a ten-year study in which there were about 500,000 patients, a reduction in consumption of red meat to a minimum, could have prevented 16% of deaths among women and 11% - of men, reported BBCNews.
It was so high mortality in the group of people who eat a day on average, more than 160 grams of red meat and meat products, as compared with those who used the product in minimum quantity - 25 grams per day (about one slice of bacon).
For white lean correlation was inverse: those whose meat diet consisted mainly of lean chicken and turkey, died less often than people who ignored these types of meat.
The fact that the increased number of red meat in the diet correlates with the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease, was known long ago. A new study confirms these data in more than solid statistics.
